Ministry is just a front row seat to watch God work, and I love that! It is such a joy to see God change people before your eyes. Plus, I get to deal with the most important things in life all day long: what really matters, what’s really true, why we are here, what happens when we die, how we get through to the other side of loss or disappointment. I work with such a great staff and I get to serve in such meaningful and enjoyable ways. What a privilege to stand alongside others as together we seek to follow the One who thought us up, sought us out, died for us, and lives now as Lord over us. . . . And to think I get paid for this!
Hanging out with my family, going for a walk with my wife Sharon, hiking or snowshoeing or canoeing in creation, climbing up on my roof and watching the sunset, enjoying an old Get Smart episode with my kids, reading, learning about just about anything, writing, watching “important” movies, studying the stars, spending time with my anam cara (soul friends), discovering cool rocks . . . Was it Queen Elizabeth who said, “My kingdom for another moment of time”?
