What follows is a discussion guide to be used in a small group to facilitate group interaction and application in regards to the most recent sermon.
Once Dead Now Loved to Life
Consider a time when you have felt desperate and consider a time when you have felt filled with joy – share briefly something of one or both of these experiences.
Read Ephesians 2:1-10.
How do the first three verses make you feel?
In what way(s) do these verses describe you?
Considering verse 4 and 5, what are ways in which you’ve seen or felt God’s great love and rich mercy recently?
How might you take a step in more firmly resting in the knowledge of God’s great love and rich mercy?
What “good work” (ref. verse 10) might the Spirit be calling you to next in response the God’s amazing love?
Some ideas…
share the gospel with that friend of yours
call that lonely person that God has been putting on your heart
forgive that person who wronged you
support a starving child through compassion international
speak up against it next time your friends are speaking inappropriately
carve out a daily time when you will read scripture and pray
take the plunge and start tithing
stop looking at trash on the internet
start spending quality time with your kids
love your spouse
Close in prayer (consider praying Ephesians 3:16-19).
