What follows is a discussion guide to be used in a small group to facilitate group interaction and application in regards to the most recent sermon.
We Are Servants
Share about a way in which your spouse or a friend has served you recently.
Read John 13:1-20 out loud.
Carefully read through this passage again (now silently to yourself). What are one or two phrases that stick out to you the most? Why do you think that is?
Look at verses 3 and 4. What is peculiar or challenging about the connection of these two verses?
In giving this example (verse 15) what is the message that Jesus wishes to communicate about Himself? What is the message He wishes to communicate about us?
What do you think your spouse/kids/friends would say if asked “Is (your name) a person who serves willingly with a kind heart”? What do you think would be the thought behind their answer?
How might God be calling you to take a step to serve this week?
Close in prayer (consider praying through Philippians 2:5-11).
