C.S. Lewis and the Love of God
Describe a circumstance in your life when you felt lavished with love.
In what kinds of ways do you most naturally communicate love to others?
Read 1 John 3:1.
Take a moment to write down (each person) a list of the top 7 ways that God communicates His love to you personally. Share that list with the group.
Describe some ways in which you would expect yourself to respond to that communication of love.
What obstacles impede or hold back your response to God’s love?
What helps might you seek this week to quicken your response to God’s love? (Each week, the last question on this discussion guide beckons one towards an action step. If you hear people mentioning the same action step over and over again, lean in to that a bit and ask what you might do to help them turn that desire into a reality?)
Close in Prayer (consider praying through 1 John 3:1).
Challenge: Commit this verse to memory (1 John 3:1). Ask each other throughout the week, “Are you feeling lavished with God’s love today?”
