What follows is a discussion guide to be used in a small group to facilitate group interaction and application in regards to the most recent sermon.

Followers Who Lead, Leaders Who Follow: Gratitude and Prayer

Share about a time when your first impression of someone turned out to be totally wrong.

How have you been a leader this week? How have you been a follower this week?

Read 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5.

Take a moment to reflect on your prayer life. What kinds of things do you pray about most? What most characterizes your prayers (pleas, thanks, questions…)? When do you pray? Do you enjoy praying?

Read verse 3 again. What work of yours is produced by faith? What labor of yours is prompted by love? What endurance of yours is inspired by hope in Christ?

God has chosen you with a pursuing love. What impact is that having on you? How might the truth of that in others impact the way you treat them?

“God calls us to see Him in the frame of every picture.” “Have spiritual eyes.” Talk about the meaning and application of these two statements.

Close in Prayer.

This weeks challenge: See non-Christians as objects of God’s love. See followers of Christ as brothers and sisters in Christ with whom you share deep commonality.
