Ministries of Compassion and Practical Help

Consider some of the following ways in which we may be able to help serve you or in which you may be able to use the gifts God has given you in order to help serve others:

Compassion Tuesdays

Each Tuesday Covenant offers an opportunity to represent Jesus and His love in the community through such activities as mentoring a needy child or spending time with a lonely nursing home resident.  Join us at 12:45pm Tuesdays at Covenant as we go out together to give love and attention to the residents at Heritage Health Care.  We chould return to church no later than 2:30pm.  Children welcome.  Questions?  Contact Denise Seagren, 447-6072.

Post Prison Ministry

Seeks Godly men to be mentors for men newly released from prison.  Time is flexible, 4-8 hours per week.  You will be guided by experienced mentors.  Let God use your yielded heart to guide these men toward Him.  Questions?  Contact Tom Johnson, 463-7303.

Serving Communion to Shut-ins

It is important to us to give those who have difficulty leaving their residence the opportunity to partake in communion. If this is you, please contact Cheryl Tillett (463-7303). We would love to serve you!

Bus Ministry

This bus ministry offers rides on our 12-passenger (handicap-accessible) bus to and from church services on Sunday mornings. We are also able on some occasions to offer rides to other Covenant events or doctor’s office visits.

Contact Sally McIntire (583-3610) to find out more or to become a trained driver.

Care and Healing Groups

Groups like DivorceCare, Changes that Heal, and Boundaries provide specific teaching and fellowship for those sorting through a particular difficult life circumstance.  Click the title above to read more about these opportunities.

Loving Single Parents

It is our desire to come alongside single parents with compassion and practical help. If you are a single parent or know a single parent who could use a hand, or would like to offer your help, contact Cheryl Tillett (463-7303).

Helping Hands

The Helping Hands Ministry provides service to individuals at Covenant or within the community who have a need of almost any kind in their home (i.e., fill drywall holes, work on powered wheelchairs, do yard work, fix garage door openers, hang doors, repair/replace roofs, etc.).

If you have a need, contact Cheryl Tillett (463-7303).  If you would like join the list of workers, contact Scott Condreay (567-2234).

Hospital Visitation

Visits to the hospitals are made daily. Gifted and equipped followers of Christ bring encouragement and prayer to hospitalized people connected with Covenant.

If you would like to learn more about this team, contact Jean Remo (743-9996).  Please let us know when family or friends are in the hospital by calling Cheryl Tillett (463-7303).

On Your Knees (Garden Ministry)

We desire to keep the grounds around the church attractive and welcoming. This group gathers on Tuesdays from 9-11am during the growing season to plant, weed, and maintain the gardens around the building and in the parking lots. There is usually a time of prayer at the end of the work sessions.

Contact Gretchen Ely (463-0235) if you’d like to learn more about this ministry.

Long- and Short-Term Care Needs

We desire to provide some practical service to those with long- and short-term care needs. If you have such needs or would like to help someone who does, please contact Cheryl Tillett (463-7303).

Bereavement Meals

When one of our Covenant families experiences the loss of a loved one, compassion and care are demonstrated to them in a number of ways. One such expression involves the serving of a meal to those gathered for the memorial service . There is something about sharing a meal together at such a time that is healing and comforting. The grieving person, surrounded by family and friends, is loved, encouraged, and refreshed.

If you would like more information, please contact Cheryl Tillett (463-7303).
