Serving

Serving: identifying and using your God-given gifts and resources

Serving means identifying and using your God-given abilities and resources to serve others in the church. Ministry is the work of the whole body of Christ, and God has given each one of us gifts to carry out that ministry. Growing followers of Christ actively apply their spiritual gifts, their time, and their money in ministry. Each of us has the privilege — and responsibility — of discovering our God-given gifts, developing them, and putting them into action through particular ministries in our church.

We know what real love is because Christ gave up his life for us. And so we also ought to give up our lives for our Christian brothers and sisters. I John 3.16 (NLT)

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. I Peter 4.10-11 (NIV)
