Abiding means cultivating a deeper relationship with God through worship and prayer. Weekly worship is a cornerstone of the Christian life as we express together our joy for who God is and our gratitude for what He has done. Prayer and personal devotions are equally important to the continued deepening of our relationship with God. As we seek God through prayer, spend time reading God’s word, and carve out places of quiet where God can meet us, we cannot help but grow closer to the God we love and serve.
Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. John 15.4-5 (NRSV)
